We were thrilled to return to Memphis this spring to join our friends at The Orpheum Theatre Group to welcome young people who stutter from the mid-south region to another Camp SAY: Across the USA! This super-fun, 2-day camp prioritized connection, collaboration, and community and was absolutely FREE for kids & teens who stutter, ages 8-18.
Camp SAY: Across the USA – Memphis offered a wide variety of games and activities that encouraged communication, creativity, and teamwork. Guided by Camp SAY leadership and the Orpheum’s teaching artists and programming staff, campers hung out, made friends, and worked together on original artistic pieces – short plays, comedy skits, poems, songs, dances, visual art! It was truly a time of celebration and empowerment in a safe, inclusive space where everyone got as much time as they needed to speak and it was really, REALLY okay to stutter!
Camp SAY: Across the USA – Memphis was happening on Saturday, March 23 & Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 9 AM to 5 PM CST each day.
Camp SAY offered an exceptional staff-to-camper ratio, with counselors who are experts at working with young people who stutter. Camp also included an optional parent education workshop and support group, where parents could learn more about stuttering, shared their experiences, and met other parents of kids and teens who stutter.
Campers received a free camp T-shirt and all necessary programming supplies, plus breakfast and lunch each day.
